Day #3 - Our Big Chase Day, First Time in Texas!

After a good 8 hours of sleep, we left our hotel and went to a local Waffle House to do some forecasting. Looking at the outlooks published by the NWS, and the forecast models, we decided a safe place to view the storms from would be south of Waco, Texas, so we paid our tab and got right on the road.

We made a lot of headway, stopped for dinner, and then spent some time deciding a good location to set up. We ended up picking a dirt road, close to a main highway, with cell service and a good view of the approaching storms.

We met some locals in the area, spent some time talking to them while we waited for the storms to roll in, and Alex recorded his segment for the Weather Show at the High School. One of the people we met came back shortly before we left and offered us brisket sandwiches, which we happily took.

I again, took out my camera, and caught some really amazing images of the supercells which were moving through to the west of us, and some lightning they generated.

We left shortly after, encountering some rain on the way out of texas, but otherwise making an uneventful start to our trip back home.
